Oily Beauty Guide

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been sharing various beauty tips. I started off with Healthy Glowing Skin, moved to Healthy Luxurious Hair, and last week I even covered Skin Care for Men. Today’s post is a hodgepodge of beauty secrets and tips to support your quest for a toxin-free beauty routine and to fill in the gaps for what hasn’t been covered yet.

We’re all searching, I think, for ways to turn back the clock on our aging, both internally and externally. I have lots of tips for you when it comes to internal support, but you’ll have to snag those from me another time or go check out my post on Biological Aging as a place to start. As far as keeping this simple the Yarrow|Pom Body Renewal Serum is as close as you’re going to get to the Fountain of Youth. This renewal serum has powerful bioactive compounds and great skin-protecting proteins. Start using this post-shower all over your body as it promotes the appearance of firmer, smoother, younger-looking skin.

One of the areas I skipped in the Healthy Luxurious Hair post was our facial hair. And no, I’m not talking about the unwanted type that seems to magically appear in minutes as if it had been growing for months, tee-hee! I’m talking about your eyelashes and eyebrows.
In an empty mascara tube mix: 10 drops Cedarwood, 4 drops Lavender essential oils and top with castor oil. Brush on your lashes and brows before bed.

If you wear makeup and try to be conscientious of using products that contain chemicals and fragrance, you’re going o love these two makeup removing solutions. The first is for those that either enjoy DIYs and/or using face wipes. It’s a makeup remover balm. In a glass bowl combine 1 c solid coconut oil, 1 tbsp cold pressed virgin olive oil, and 20 drops of your favorite skin essential oil (Rose, Frankincense, or Geranium to name a few great choices). Whip ingredients, by hand or with mixer, until fluffy. Transfer mixture into an 8oz glass jar to store until ready to use.

When ready to use, take about a teaspoon of the balm and rub it generously all over your face. Then, watch the magic happen! Wipe off with a warm, damp cloth.
For my grab and go ladies, take a squirt of Fractionated Coconut Oil, rub your hands together, and start massaging onto your face and around your eyes. Wipe clean with a warm, damp cloth. Washing and moisturizing after, as you normally would.

And speaking of makeup. Most of us pay attention to cleaning and moisturizing our pretty faces. For my makeup lovers, when was the last time you cleaned your markup brush(es)? It’s important to keep your tools clean and bacteria-free, so you don’t accidentally transfer those germs to your eyes, clog your pores up, or otherwise risk exposure to infections.

Add 2 tbls Fractionated Coconut Oil and 5 drops each: Tea Tree & Grapefruit essential oils to a small bowl. Swirl makeup brush in the bowl for 30 seconds, or until you start to see the makeup stored in the brush start coming out. Rub in a circular motion on the palm of your hand to help get residual makeup out. Rinse the brush under warm water, then gently squeeze the bristles until clean and the water runs clear. Leave the brush(es) dry on a towel for 4+ hours.
Pro Tip: It’s recommended at a minimum to do this monthly, but “experts” suggest every 7-10 days. Keep the bristles pointing downward when running water on your brushes. Direct water contact may loosen the glen where the bristles attach and shorten the life of your brush.

This simple DIY under eye serum is made with Immortelle Anti-Aging Blend and Yarrow|Pom essential oils. Not only does this duo make an amazing solution for applying under your eyes, but it extends the life of your Immortelle blend – giving you over three months of under eye serum. Here’s what you do, grab a new bottle of Immortelle and two empty 10mL rollers. Split your Immortelle into thirds (1/3 per roller). Add 5 drops of Yarrow|Pom essential oil to each roller, then top all three with Jojoba, Argan or Fractionated Coconut Oil. After you cleanse your face, roll under eyes each night.

Whether you nick yourself shaving or find yourself with a larger wound, this scar support blend is a powerhouse pack essential oil solution. In a 10mL roller bottle add 10 drops each: Yarrow|Pom, Helichrysum, Frankincense, Sandalwood, Myrrh, and Copaiba essential oils and top with Fractionated Coconut Oil. Roll directly on area in need at least once per day.

Let’s talk about toner for a sec. Do you know why toner is helpful? It removes any last bits of dirt, bacteria and grime from your pores after you cleanse your face, plus it refreshes the skin, protects it and tightens the skin which reduces the appearance of your pores.
I personally love the Pore-Reducing Toner from the doTERRA Essential Skincare Line or they also have Verage Toner. If you’re into the DIY thing, the in a 2oz spray bottle mix 1 ½ oz of witch hazel, 2 tsp vitamin e oil, and 15 drops Lavender essential oil. Shake well before using. Mist on face after cleansing and lightly press/pat into the face.

Here’s an easy-peasy double-cleansing routine that will radically change your skin. The process is so simple, yet it removes all the dirt and oil from your face so it doesn’t clog your pores.

STEP 1: Use a carrier oil of choice (FCO, Jojoba, Rosehip, etc.) and massage onto your face with 2 drops Lavender, Copaiba or Geranium for 1-2 minutes. Wipe off with a warm, damp cloth.

STEP 2: Cleanse with your favorite cleanser. My personal fav is the doTERRA Verage Cleanser.

STEP 3: Roll on Immortelle Anti-Aging Blend and a few drops Yarrow|Pom (or use the under eye roller hack from above) and press into your skin to hydrate and moisturize naturally.

I hope you found some good nuggets in this oily beauty guide. If you ever want to dive deeper or need guidance on anything else, know that’s what I love to do – help! So, don’t be a stranger reach out any time.
