Natural Solutions for Sleep

I want you to know that I write this from a place of understanding.  I struggled with sleep issues for over 2 decades.  To start my night off, it took me F O R E V E R to fall asleep - like 45 minutes to a hour!  I'd lay there exhausted, wanting nothing more than to drift off, but sadly my wheels just kept on spinning.  Once I was finally asleep it didn't last long.  I typically woke up every hour (or more) throughout the night.  And then there was the dreams.  If by chance I could go a few hours without waking up my dreams were so vivid and so crazy that I often felt the level of energy depletion as if I'd performed whatever I was dreaming about.

Yes, I tried EVERYTHING!

- Maintaining a bedtime routine - going to sleep and waking up at the same time.
- No fluids or devices an hour or so before I was ready to make my way to bed.
- Giving myself time to wind down.
- Melatonin and other various supplements.
- Prayer and meditation.

I know there were other methods I tried, but these are the most common and typically helpful things people can do to help them go to sleep quickly and get a quality good nights sleep.  Sadly, none of the above worked for me.  I developed some some great habits through my efforts, but that was about the extent of it.  That is until I discovered doTERRA.  I have to say doTERRA vs essential oils for 2 reasons.

Now, I've talked about these before so I won't go into the whole spiel.  I'll just say that these supplements have literally changed my life. So those are my sleepy time wins, but like most things what works for one might not work for another (it's true even in our house), so I'm going to share some other popular essential oils for sleeping like a champ.  Essential oils like Lavender & Bergamot are rich in linalool and linalyl acetate, compounds that have well-known relaxing properties. These oils can be diffused aromatically in the bedroom to create a calming and peaceful environment. When using doTERRA essential oils, they can also be used topically and taken internally to calm the nervous system, promote relaxation, and lead to a restful sleep. Try placing two to four drops of Lavender or Bergamot essential oil in a warm, herbal tea or about 30 minutes before going to bed.
