Rosemary & Lavender Recipes

Lavender and Rosemary essential oils have wonderful properties and a plethora of benefits when used individually.   Let's take a look at what each oil is known for:

Lavender essential oil has been used and cherished for centuries for its unmistakable aroma and myriad benefits. In ancient times, the Egyptians and Romans used Lavender for bathing, relaxation, cooking, and as a perfume. Applied topically, Lavender oil is frequently used to reduce the appearance of skin imperfections. Add to bath water to soak away stress or apply to the temples and the back of the neck. Add a few drops of Lavender oil to pillows, bedding, or bottoms of feet to relax and prepare for a restful night’s sleep. Due to Lavender’s versatile properties, it is considered the must-have oil to have on hand at all times.

Rosemary essential oil is known for its aromatic, evergreen shrub whose leaves are frequently used to flavor foods.  Like Lavender, Rosemary has many benefits. Rosemary was considered sacred by the ancient Greek, Roman, Egyptian, and Hebrew cultures. Rosemary’s herbaceous and energizing scent is frequently used in aromatherapy.

Now then, what about when you combine Lavender and Rosemary essential oils together?  They may seem like an odd couple at first, but together they really do make up a powerful combo.  When you look at the chemical make up of Lavender, it has constituents, like linalool, that help with relaxation - that can also help with the growth of cells and reproduction of skin.  So, when you combine those properties with the chemical make-up of Rosemary essential oil, which is known to promote circulation and rejuvenate nerves, it's possible to help restore hair growth.  Pretty cool right?  Plus Lavender is a light floral aroma, while Rosemary is herbaceous - again an unexpected pair that just works.

Let's dive into some recipes for this unlikely duo:

There are many other recipes you can get for the oils individually for cooking and drinks too.  These are just some of my favorite ways to use Lavender and Rosemary together.  If you have another one that you'd like to share with us I'd love to hear about it.  I always love learning new and fun ways to use my essential oils.
