Wellness Made Simple pt.3

This week is near and dear to my heart, we're talking all about RESTING & MANAGING STRESS in Part 3 of a 5-part series on living a natural solutions lifestyle - with the goal being to keep things simple. Both areas are so important to me that I've written several blog posts on each: stress management and sleep solutions.

There are 6 primary areas on living a wellness lifestyle; Eating Right, Exercise, Rest & Managing Stress, Reduce Toxic Load, Informed Self-Care. The 6th component, Proactive Medical Care, I believe becomes a given as you'll be caring for your body before it breaks down when you follow the 5 other primary areas. 

My #1 go-to for managing stress and, honestly, ALL things mental wellness, is the doTERRA Adaptiv™ System. It's the perfect calming blend that's the right solution for life's most stressful moments from unknown surroundings to family drama, and meetings to life events. This calming blend has some of the best oils to support your body and mind, whether you’re feeling fatigued, restless, indecisive or irritable. Lavender, Magnolia, Neroli, and Sweetgum provide stress-relieving effects while Wild Orange and Spearmint energize and uplift. Copaiba and Rosemary soothe anxious feelings to round out the calming blend. 

Citrus oils are great for energy and as a quick pick-me-up, some even refer to Wild Orange as happiness in a bottle. And I agree, it never fails to help lift my mood. Other helpful oils include Black Pepper, doTERRA Cheer®, and doTERRA Balance®. 

Black Pepper might seem like an odd essential oil, but it's warming and soothing properties make it a great essential oil to add to a massage. Plus the aroma helps to soothe anxious feelings. 

Cheer® is a mix of citrus and spice essential oils, giving this sunshiny aroma the ability to increase your feelings of positivity and boost your happiness meter. 

Balance® is a grounding blend with a blend of warm, woody oils that offer the body and mind true tranquility.

For those that like a little more variety in their natural solutions tool box you're in luck. doTERRA Breathe®, if you might recall from last week, is the respiratory blend. As my people with sleep disorders effecting breathing know, your breathing at night can get interrupted. Using Breathe® in the bedroom helps to promote a restful night sleep while maintaining feelings of clear airways and easy breathing. While you may not notice it yourself, anyone sharing the bedroom (or house in some cases, hahaha!) probably will when their sleeping improves as your noisy snoring is minimized. My personal favorite way to use the respiratory blend is on the bottom arch of my foot or in the diffuser.

Cedarwood and Lavender are well known for their properties to help soothe the mind and body and create a relaxing environment. You might be scratching your head with Bergamot falling into this category too, since I've already shared that citrus oils tend to be uplifting and energizing. Bergamot has the unique ability to create both calming and uplifting environments. And when you combine it with an oil like Cedarwood you've got a powerful combo that will melt any anxious thoughts.

My personal favorite blend in the bedroom is doTERRA Serenity®. This restful blend will shut off all those thoughts going through your head, so that you can fall asleep quickly. It comes in an oil for topical application or to diffuse as well as in supplement form that has slightly different ingredients than the essential oil (the oil is NOT recommended for internal consumption). The restful complex supplement is a combination of Lavender essential oil and natural plant extracts that will help you get a refreshing night sleep without leaving you feeling groggy or sleepy the next day. You might like the combination of both, or I just use 1 drop of the oil on the bottom of my big toe. 😉

Here's a couple sleep diffuser blends that you can try as a base to get you started. There are a number of essential oils and combinations that you can create to help you get a quality night sleep. I encourage you to play around and find the perfect sleep blend for you.  

In an effort to give you bite-sized pieces and keep the info overload to a minimum I'm going to continue to chunk down my blogs on wellness made simple into a five-part series.
