SCIATICA & NERVE RELIEF
RECOVERY ROADMAP

The AromaStrech™ Method

If your sciatic nerve feels irritated, sharp, or constantly “on edge”… it may not be just a muscle problem.

At Wellness Spoiled, we take a neuro-centric approach—because nerve-related pain is often driven by sensitivity, not just tightness.

Your nervous system is constantly asking:
“Do I feel safe enough to move?”

When the brain perceives a threat—whether from injury, inflammation, prolonged sitting, or past experiences—it may increase tension and sensitivity along the nerve pathway.

This can show up as:
  • Sharp or shooting pain
  • Tingling or numbness
  • Tightness that doesn’t improve with stretching
  • Pain that moves from the low back into the leg

Our goal isn’t to aggressively stretch the nerve. Our goal is to reduce sensitivity, restore movement, and help your nervous system feel safe again.

What’s Really Causing Your Sciatica & Nerve?

Sciatic discomfort is often the result of:

  • Nerve Sensitivity (Not Just Compression)
Your sciatic nerve doesn’t just get “tight”—it can become irritated or hypersensitive, meaning even normal movement can feel painful.
  • Limited Hip & Pelvic Mobility
Your nerve travels through and around your hips. When these areas are stiff, the nerve may not move freely.
  • Prolonged Sitting or Inactivity
Long periods of sitting can place the nerve in a compressed or shortened position, increasing irritation over time.
  • Protective Nervous System Response
If your brain senses danger, it may increase tension and restrict movement to protect you—often making symptoms worse.
  • Lack of Movement Variability
The nerve thrives on gentle, consistent movement. When movement is limited, sensitivity increases.

The goal is not to “stretch harder.” The goal is to restore motion, reduce sensitivity, and rebuild trust between your brain and body.

YOUR DAILY RESET
(Mobility Work)

Perform these movements daily or as recommended after your session. Focus on slow, controlled, pain-free movement.
1. SEATED SCIATIC NERVE GLIDE (Flossing) (8-10 slow repetitions)
How to do it:
  • Sit tall in a chair
  • Slowly extend one leg while pulling your toes toward you
  • At the same time, gently look up
  • Then reverse:
    • Bend the knee
    • Point the toes
    • Gently tuck your chin
Move slowly back and forth in a controlled rhythm.

Why it helps:
Encourages the nerve to move smoothly through surrounding tissues without increasing irritation.

Bonus Tip:
This should feel like a gentle movement—not a stretch. If symptoms increase, reduce your range of motion.

2. FIGURE 4 HIP MOBILITY STRETCH (20-30 seconds)
How to do it: Keep your back neutral—avoid rounding excessively.
  • Sit or lie down
  • Cross one ankle over the opposite knee
  • Gently pull the bottom leg toward you (if lying)
  • Or lean forward slightly (if seated)
Why it helps:
Improves hip mobility, reducing pressure and tension around the sciatic nerve pathway.

3. PELVIC TILTS/SPINAL RESET (10-15 slow reps)
How to do it: Think “small and controlled,” not exaggerated movement.
  • Lie on your back with knees bent
  • Gently flatten your lower back into the surface
  • Then slowly arch away
Move back and forth in a smooth, controlled motion.

Why it helps:
Restores movement in the lower spine and pelvis, helping reduce nerve irritation.

4. WALKING OR LIGHT MOVEMENT
How to do it:
  • Walk at a comfortable pace
  • Keep posture relaxed
  • Avoid long periods of sitting afterward
Why it helps:
Promotes circulation and natural nerve movement without overloading the system.

Bonus Tip:
Short, frequent walks are more effective than long, occasional ones.

TRAIN YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM
(Your Secret Weapon)

Your nerve doesn’t just need mobility—it needs reassurance and better communication.
POSITION-BASED RELIEF
How to do it:
  • Find a position where symptoms decrease (lying, supported sitting, etc.)
  • Stay there and breathe slowly
  • Let your body relax completely
Progression:
Gently introduce small movements while staying in that comfortable position.

Why it works:
Teaches your nervous system that movement can be safe and non-threatening.

DIAPHRAGMATIC BREATHING (1-2 minutes)
How to do it:
  • One hand on chest, one on stomach
  • Inhale through nose
  • Long, slow exhale through mouth
  • Focus on expanding your belly, not your chest
Progression:
Combine breathing with gentle movement (like pelvic tilts).

Why it works:
Reduces nervous system threat response and lowers overall tension.
GENTLE SENSORY INPUT
How to do it:
  • Lightly rub or tap along the back of the leg
  • Move from hip → thigh → calf
  • Keep pressure gentle and consistent
Progression:
Vary pressure slightly or combine with movement.

Why it helps:
Improves body awareness and reduces nerve hypersensitivity.

ACCELERATE YOUR RESULTS
(In-Gym Recovery Tools)

To reduce nerve irritation, improve mobility, and calm your system, these tools help your body decompress, rehydrate tissues, and regulate sensitivity. Pick 1-2 tools post-session (except the sauna).

Enhance your progress, incorporate these at Fitness Premier :

  • Hydro Massage → Provides consistent, gentle pressure without direct compression—helping relax tight muscles around the hips and low back while avoiding irritation of sensitive nerves. Keep intensity moderate—this is about calming, not digging.
  • Sauna → Heat increases blood flow and helps loosen chronically tight tissues that may be contributing to nerve compression, especially in the hips and glutes. *Use before mobility work for better movement quality.
  • Cryo Sleeves → Targets inflammation along the nerve pathway, reduces pain signals and swelling—great for post-workout or flare-ups
  • Compression Massage Chairs → Encourages blood flow through the legs, helping reduce stagnation and tension patterns that can contribute to sciatic discomfort. Avoid overly high pressure—circulation is the goal, not intensity.

NATURAL SUPPORT
(Optional, But Powerful)

Sciatica is often caused by irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve, influenced by inflammation, muscle tension, and imbalances in the hips and lower back. Supporting your body with targeted, natural strategies can help calm nerve irritation, reduce discomfort, and restore more comfortable movement.
SUPPORT FOR PAIN, INFLAMMATION & NERVE IRRITATION
When the sciatic nerve is irritated, inflammation can increase sensitivity and pain along the entire pathway—from the low back down the leg.

Recommended support:
  • Deep Blue Stick + Copaiba
Apply directly to lower back, glutes and along the nerve pathway for a cooling, soothing effect.
  • Deep Blue Polyphenol Complex (combines polyphenol extracts of frankincense, turmeric, apple, ginger, pomegranate, and grapeseed)
Take 1-2 capsules (like you would an OTC anti-inflammatory) for internal support.
  • Frankincense Oil or Boswellic Acid Complex
Use the oil topically, directly on knee and 1 drop under tongue daily and/or take 1 capsule daily for anti-inflammatory support with antioxidant and healthy cellular function and repair.
  • Copaiba Oil or Softgels
Using the oil topically or taking the softgel (3 drops of oil) internally is just a matter of preference/convenience. If using topically I highly recommend layering with the Deep Blue Stick. You can also take 1-2 capsules - it aids healthy immune and inflammatory responses when taken internally. Both supports healthy inflammation response, nerve response and comfort.
  • Turmeric Dual Chamber Capsules
Take 1-2 capsules daily to manage long-term inflammation. The turmerones and curcuminoids in this capsule maximize the effectiveness and benefits - a natural one-two punch in the fight against free radicals and promotion of a healthy inflammatory response.
STRUCTURAL SUPPORT & MUSCLE BALANCE
Sciatica is often influenced by tight muscles (like the piriformis) and lack of stability in the hips and core.

Recommended support:
In addition to Deep Blue Polyphenol Complex (mentioned above)
NERVOUS SYSTEM SUPPORT (KEY FOCUS)
With sciatica, the nervous system is directly involved—meaning calming the system can significantly reduce pain intensity and muscle guarding.

Recommended support:
  • Balance Grounding Blend
Apply to bottoms of feet to start your day off and/or diffuse throughout the day as needed.
  • Box Breathing
Inhale through the nose for 4 seconds, Hold for 4 seconds, Exhale for 4 seconds, Hold for 4 seconds - repeat 2-3 minutes. This signals safety to your nervous system, quickly lowering your heart rate and decreasing cortisol levels which can reduce tension in your low back almost immediately.

  • Deeper Support Options (In-Gym)
Tools like the Mental Wellness Pod and BioCharger can help support nervous system regulation, circulation, and overall recovery—making them especially beneficial for nerve-related discomfort like sciatica.

Diffuse the essential oil blend in your office or common area in your home to reduce fatigue and restlessness, and soothe an indecisive or irritable demeanor. Pop the Adaptiv Touch in your bag and take it with you on-the-go for dealing with life's most stressful moments no matter where you are - simply roll on pusle points (wrists, over heart, etc.).

DAILY MOVEMENT:
  • Gentle, consistent movement is key. Avoid prolonged sitting, and incorporate walking or light mobility work to keep the nerve from becoming more irritated or compressed.

HYDRATION & TISSUE HEALTH
Approximately 75% of the globe is dehydrated, so proper hydration cannot be talked about enough! It's not about drinking more water; it's about your body being able to absorb and use the water you drink. Proper hydration supports nerve function, muscle elasticity, and fascia health—all critical for reducing sciatic discomfort.

DAILY HYDRATION GOAL:
Aim for at least half your body weight in ounces of water daily—and more if you’re active or experiencing discomfort. (Example: 140lbs = 70oz)

ELECTROLYTE SUPPORT:
  • Recharge Electrolyte Mix → A balanced blend of electrolytes—including potassium, sodium, and magnesium— that’s perfect for everyone, not just high-performance athletes. It also includes baobab extract and deep-ocean minerals like molybdenum, magnesium, vanadium from the Kuroshio Current in the Pacific Ocean, helping water work more cooperatively with your cells so you don’t have to work hard to stay hydrated. You can get Recharge in Lemon-Lime or Wild Strawberry (I like both, but a combo of both is my fav).
Use as needed to support proper absorption. Shake a sachet to activate. Pour the electrolyte concentrate into 16 ounces of cold water, stir or shake, and enjoy.

FASCIA & TISSUE SUPPORT AT HOME:
Releasing tension in surrounding muscles can reduce pressure on the sciatic nerve and improve mobility.

  • Gentle fascia blasting on glutes, hamstrings, hips and posterior chain
*Please ask if you're unsure how to do at-home fascia release. Or for deeper support, try a signature AromaStretch-n-Blast session—a hands-on approach combining assisted stretching, fascia work, and targeted techniques to help improve knee stability and reduce discomfort.

ADVANCED RECOVERY ADD-ONS
(Optional)

Want to take your sciatica recovery to the next level? These simple add-ons are designed to calm your nervous system, support healthy nerve mobility, and improve communication between your brain and body. Remember—nerves respond best to gentle, consistent input rather than force.

Choose one or two to layer into your routine—small daily actions create lasting changes.

ACUPRESSURE SUPPORT
Target key points that may help reduce tension along the low back, hips, and sciatic nerve pathway while supporting relaxation and mobility.

How to use:
Apply firm, comfortable pressure for 30–60 seconds while taking slow, deep breaths. Avoid pressing directly on areas that feel sharp, electric, or irritated.

Recommended Points:
  • GB30 (Huan Tiao)
→ Located in the center of the glute muscle, where the outer hip meets the buttock
→ Commonly used to support hip mobility, glute tension, and discomfort along the sciatic pathway
  • BL40 (Wei Zhong)
→ Located in the center of the back of the knee crease
→ Traditionally used to support low back tension and discomfort traveling through the posterior chain
💡Pro Tip: Apply your favorite essential oil (like Deep Blue® or Copaiba) to the surrounding muscles before acupressure to encourage relaxation and support comfort.

VISUAL RESET (Brain + Body Connection)
Your nervous system uses information from your eyes, inner ear, and body position sensors to determine how safe and stable movement feels. Improving these signals can help reduce protective tension and improve coordination.

Simple Drill:
  • Sit or stand comfortably
  • Keep your head still
  • Hold your thumb about arm’s length away
  • Slowly move your thumb side to side
  • Follow it with your eyes only
  • Keep your breathing relaxed
  • Continue for 30–60 seconds
💡If your symptoms change after this drill, it provides valuable information that your nervous system is involved in your recovery.
LYMPHATIC + CIRCULATION BOOST
Healthy circulation and fluid movement support tissue health and can help reduce the stiffness and heaviness that often accompanies nerve irritation.

Options to Try:
  • Dry Brushing
→ Use light strokes from the feet upward toward the hips before showering to support circulation and body awareness
  • Vibration Plate (if available)
→ 10-15 minutes to encourage circulation and gentle sensory input
  • Daily Movement
Short, frequent walks are often better tolerated than prolonged sitting and help keep the hips and spine moving
💡Movement is medicine for the nervous system—gentle, consistent motion helps rebuild trust in your body.

When Will You See Results?

Every body responds differently, but many clients notice:

  • Improved movement after their first session
  • Better body awareness within days
  • Increased stability with consistent practice
  • Long-term improvements through continued support

The goal is not a quick fix. The goal is to build a body you trust.
